DS280DF810: Max Loss Budget

Hi Team,

We have a question regarding loss specifications for the ds280df810 retimers, do you have a guide for how much the max loss should be for a system design running 25GbE from an SFP/QSFP module to the retimers?

Seems like 35dB, but would probably recommend designing with a few dB less. Can you confirm?

Customer saw this IEEE doc (link) which suggests a maximum of 7.3 dB loss required, however with the minimum setpoint of 8dB in the datasheet, it seems like this doc isn't relevant.

Hi Erika,

The DS280DF810 can support up to 35dB of channel loss at 12.9GHz. We would recommend performing simulation with the IBIS-AMI model to better understand system performance.
