Hi Apps Team,

One of my new key customers is considering TUSB8041 for their UBS HUB project. Could you please respond to customer’s questions below?

[Inquiries for TUSB8041]

1.Datasheet (Sec. 7.7)

  • For VDD1.1V current estimation, please confirm the meaning of U0/U1/U2 in active mode conditions.

2. Alternative recommendation

  • Is there a device with better supply availability and longer lifecycle?
3. Application Purpose: The customer intend to use a HUB (TUSB8041I, Industrial) to transmit video data from three USB 3.0 MIPI cameras through a single USB-C cable to a PC.
  • Requirement: If the current model does not support video data transmission via USB 3.0 (UVC standard), please recommend an alternative model that does.
4. Driver Support:
  • Does the TUSB8041 support standard Windows drivers? If a proprietary/dedicated driver is required, please let me know how to proceed.
  • Hi,

For VDD1.1V current estimation, please confirm the meaning of U0/U1/U2 in active mode conditions.

These are USB 3.0 SuperSpeed link power states — U0 is the active link state, while U1/U2 are lower-power link states. This is further defines in the UBS 3.2 specification.

    2. Alternative recommendation

    • Is there a device with better supply availability and longer lifecycle?

The TUSB804xA is the latest USB 3.0 hubs we have. We do not plan to EOL any of our USB 3.0 hubs, so there are no longevity concerns here.

The TUSB8041 is a USB certified hub, and supports UVC streaming.

UVC is a device class subset protocol of USB, and as long as the host and device both support UVC, these should be no issue here.

If possible can the customer confirm proof of concept with an EVM?

    4. Driver Support:
    • Does the TUSB8041 support standard Windows drivers? If a proprietary/dedicated driver is required, please let me know how to proceed.

    No special driver is required.
