Performance of Industrial Channel Link parts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LV0421, DS92LV3241

Weve been using Channel Link parts from National Semi for years.  Theyve always specd the commercial parts up to 85 MHz and the industrial parts up to 66 MHz.  My question is, is that based on thermal/power limitations or is it just based on guaranteed timing limitations?

Also, do you think theyll ever offer a full-speed part in industrial grade?

  • Most of the newer channel link parts are being designed for industrial applications, and are specified over the industrial temperature range.  When we guarantee the speed of a serializer/deserializer it is done through characterization over the full spectrum of temperature range, power supply range and process variation range, and any number on the datasheet in the MAX or MIN column is guaranteed over all of these parameters.

Examples of recently released higher speed, industrial channel link parts would include the Channel Link II devices:

    DS92LV0421/0422 - 75MHz

    DS92LV3241/3242 - 85MHz

Both specified over the industrial temperature range.
