TUSB2036: COM port issues

It is a device that connects via a UCB cable but it shows up on a windows computer as a COM port in Device manager. We were looking for a software solution because the TUSB2036 has to be used for this design since the PCB were already printed and everything was designed around it.

It's called the HI-pro USB hearing aid programmer.

This is the USB version, whereas the previous version just used a RS232C port. It may even have a RS232 to USB adapter inside so that it could work on a USB port but still pops up as a COM port.

I don't think some modifications to the hub will make a change, with the TI's USB-to-Serial converter (TUSB3410) we've seen this behavior with some drivers.

Have you asked to the RS-232 device's manufacturer? The TUSB2036 is not High-speed capable, does the device's driver works with only Full-speed?

The device is the Hi-pro hearing aid programmer. From their site:

Built-in USB 2.0 connection (USB 1.1 compatible)

So i dont believe it is an issue with USB Full speed or high speed compatibility. Please let me know

I can't get a bus trace right now but here are the schematics. I am connecting the downstream device to JP2.

Hello Sal,

Connect a pull-up to 3.3V on each /OC input.

Your downstream device should have an integrated pull-up on D+ or D-, you don't need the R8U.

Is JP2 a USB type A connector?

I actually already added those pull ups on the OC inputs but this schematic does not show that.

The JP2 is just a jumper connector from my PCB to the device's D+, D-, Vbus, and GND inputs directly.

The device did have a USB A connector previously but I desoldered it and hardwired it for a more permanently attached device.
