Hello fellow engineers,
I am using the ti version of PCA9515A I2C buffer on a development board that I designed and layed out. I am using a 3.3V I2C bus driven by an mbed microcontroller with 5.1k pull up resistors before and after the buffer. On this dev board I have 4 of these buffers (not in series) and several devices on each of the separated I2C buses. The problem that I am encountering is with one of the particular buffer placements. I have now broken 3 different buffers in one single location. The way that I know the device is broken is because upon applying 3.3V and GND from the mbed the PCA9515A increases temperature to a point hot enough to burn your finger.
I'm not necessarily asking for specific help with my design because I know how complicated it can be to do that over the forum. What I do hope for is to find someone else who has encountered this problem and knows the cause of this device failure. Thanks all!
