for new HD-SDI DVR product based on the DM8168, Does TI have HD-SDI receiver chips?

  • There are two ways to implement a receiver for HD-SDI which will work with the DM8168.

To maximize versatility, the TI receiver solution segments the receiver into a deserializer and a data formatting portion - the deserializer can be a part such as the LMH0041 and the formatting is done within a low cost FPGA such as Spartan 3 or Cyclone 3.  TI provides the FPGA IP along with the LMH0041 and one FPGA can support four or more receive channels.

Alternately, an FPGA with an integrated receive channel could be used, such as a Spartan 6, and in this case, the only external component required would be the cable equalizer - a good TI option for the would be the DS30EA101.  Once again, using a single FPGA, multiple receive channels can be implemented.
