In the SLLU155 TLK110 EVM Drawing I found that some capacitors are for 50volt, while I was expecting them to be 2000v. can you please explaine. SHCEMATIC on page 11 c11-c22 SHCHEMATIC on page 11 c8 in serias with 75ohm to the HX1188

  • hello eli,

c11 to c22 caps are needed to isloate between chassis ground and board ground. we have found that for better ESD immunity 1 HV cap (2000v) of ~4500pf connected close to RJ45 instead of c11 to c22 gives better immunity. an update of customer board and schematic is due.

regarding c8 in series with 75ohm this is called "bob-smith" termination, it is used to reduce noise resulting from common mode current flows, as well as reduce susceptibility to any noise from unused wire pairs on the RJ-45. c8 should also be at least 2kV rated. an update of customer board and schematic is due.
    Thanks,
