Hi all,

My Name is Christian and I'm a final year engineering student, I really need your help in order to finish my final project.

I'm using DS92LV16 SerDes IC to construct an optical transceiver for my project.

I have a doubt in giving the input clock to the IC.

Can anyone suggest me which clock generator IC that I suppose to use?

    Hi Christian,

    If you take a look at the data sheet for the DS92LV16 under the initialization and data transfer sections on page 13 the TCLK operation is explained with a detailed example. An onboard oscillator in the range of 25-80 MHz is what the part requires and the calculations for your serial rate are listed in the section of the document that I pointed out above. When selecting an oscillator please consider that the TCLK Input Jitter Max, listed in the Serializer Timing Requirements for TCLK section of the data sheet, is 80 ps (RMS).
