TUSB1210 in host only mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1210

In our design (based on OMAP3630 and TUSB1210), the only usb device connected to TUSB1210 is an on-board wcdma modem module, which is separately powered.

Now I know the ID pin should be tied to ground, but I am not sure how I should deal with the VBUS and CPEN pin. Should I connect VBUS to some 5V or 3.3V power supply? or leave it floating? And could I leave CPEN floating?

  • Hi matianfu,

I'm new to the Ti forums and have been looking in to USB connectivity for a project and stumbled on your question.  I would have to assume page 54 ( PDF Page number, not the number on the page in http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tusb1210.pdf would be appropriate.  It did sound like you want the wcdma modem module to be a device to attach to another device, making it the slave ( not host ) USB.  I would recommend an amendment to it for the 5V from the USB connector so the wcdma can ' detect ' it is connected.  You did not say what wcdma modem module you were using, so I am speculating that it could have a simple 5V transistor network used to switch on and off the power to it so it is off when there is no USB connection.

    Hope this is useful,

    Eric
