1394 controller problem

I have a computer with a 1394 ohci compliant host controller.  The computer is running Windows 7 32 bit.  The firewire does not work.  Is there a Windows 7 driver that works?

  • Hello,

Win 7 has native support for 1394 OHCI,

Can you elaborate more on your application? what device are you using?

    Regards.

  • The device is a Cannon ZR850 camcorder.  If you use the driver that comes with Windows 7, device manager shows it did not start.  The legacy driver will start, but not connect to any devices.

  • Hello,

It is probably a camera issue, I am looking for an errata from cannon, can you also ask cannon for known issues for that camera.

    Regards.

  • I have had some issues with cameras and PC connectivity issues.

There are Windows 7 programs available to download from Cannon U.S.A

The route I have had to take with some USB/PCI/SCSI devices that could only load the old driver was to back up everything relating to it, doing a full uninstall of the drivers and clean the registry of any trace of them then download and run the newer version from the manufacturer as they almost always included the drivers on install.

rebooting after the cleaning, rebooting after the install and starting the program then connecting the camera.

It can be a long process if you do not already have any form of registry cleaner.

I recommend trying that route as most of my " old driver for windows " headaches went away when the newer drivers were installed with the update to the program

    hope this helps.
