TLK110 Link problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK110

Hi,

Our customer is using TLK110 PHY in their project,
but there is a problem in this application regarding the TLK110 PHY address.
They are not able to access the PHY with the default PHY address (00001 (0x01h)).

The TLK110 PHY is connected to the Host processor,
and they are trying to access the PHY with the default address 0x01h.
The problem is, there is no link up, but they are able to access the registers of TLK110.

And there was a strange behaviour,
With the same hardware, when tried with different set of adresses they were able to access the PHY with the address 1F (11111).
i.e. there is no link up problem with the adress 0x1Fh, but they are not able to
access the register of TLK110.

To summarize the issue:
there is a link up problem even though the PHY Address [4:0] is hardwired to default (0x01h).

In case of DP83848, there is no problem with the link up and the register access with
the defualt address 0x01h.

  • Hello paddu,

    you mention that:

    1.  "there is no link up, but they are able to access the registers of TLK110."
    2. when other  PHY_ID address is set, thean you don't have link up problem. but they cannot access registers.

it might be  the values presented on the hardware configuration pins by the host (MAC) are not correct, before reset deassertion to the PHY.

could you please send me their schematic to aviad@ti.com?

    thanks, aviad
