Hi
What is the RSVD connected to D23 used for?
Why is it connected on 24b GPU to 24b Display only?
Thanks
Franz

Franz, the industry standard is for the 1st bit in the 4th LVDS lane to be unused. The D23 input to the LVDS serializer can be grounded, and then the LVDS bit will always be "differential low", and it's not used by the panel you're connecting to.

RossE, Thanks a lot.
This perfectly explains the SN75LVDS83B side, and it somehow leaves open the TFP401A side and the function of its RSVD pin.
I then do assume that there is no particular reason why this is connected in all the data sheets regarding the FlatLink and the DVI to LVDS bridge for configurations that use 24 to 24 bit.
I have a design with these 2 devices and have not connected it ... and it works :-).
Best regards,
Franz
