Hello,

Yes, you can develop your own firmware.

You will need the Code Composer to compile the firmware.

Yes, you can "burn" different firmware into the demo board, you will need the Flash Burner available at http://www.ti.com/litv/zip/sllc414c

We are interested in the TUSB9261 and are going to buy the evaluation board. We may need to program the GPIO for custom functionality. How do we go about obtaining source code? Can the Cortex M3 do some general purpose tasks? Is it true that JTAG debugging is not functional?

Hello Chris,

Answering your first question, unfortunately TI does not provide the source code for the TUSB9261.

For your second question, you will be able to perform any task supported by the Cortex M3 architecture. For more information about what the Cortex M3 supports I suggest you go to the ARM’s web page.

JTAG debugging is functional using TI’s Code Composer Studio. Additionally you will need a JTAG Emulator.
