TUSB3410 with WindowsVista

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410

Hello,

Our customer using TUSB3410 in  their products, and  worked it good. But recently, they found a issue with WindowsVista.

1. prepare a new WindowsVista PC --> 2. install the vcp driver(v6.5.9017.0) in that PC --> 3. connect their product --> 4. the PC requires reboot itself.

And it always happens with WindowsVista and  never happens with Windows7 and XP.

Do you have any comment or information with this issue?  Should they use latest v6.5.9018.1 driver ?

If it requires their driver and source to comment for this, I'll ask the customer.

Thanks,

Hiroshi Sato

  • Hello Hiroshi Sato,

Windows Vista always request for a reboot after the driver installation in order to correctly complete it, this is an expected behavior on this Operating System.

    Regards,  Roberto.

  • Hello Roberto-san,

Thank you for your quick replying and giving inforomation.

I heard more detail from our customer, they had never tested with a brand-new PC bedore.

I think that the customer didn't know about that information so they said there is an issue.

    thanks and regards,

    Hiroshi

  • Hello Roberto-san,

I had receive questions from customer again.

An another USB products(USB to serial conversion cable) did not require reboot , when they use a brand-new Vista PC and first time connection of it.

They think TUSB3410 driver requires reboot, the others is not.

And if possible, please let me know the difference ver.6.5.9018.1 and ver.6.5.9017.0 for datail (for wxample, what bug is fixed).

    Now the customer using 6.5.9017.0

    Thanks and best regards,

    HIroshi Sato

    regards

    Stefan Junge

  • Hello Stefan,

On the 6.5.9018.0 we have fixed some transmission errors, This errors occurs only when the systems use  i3,i5,i7 processors.

I’m attaching you  the driver release notes for more reference.

  • Hello Roberto-san,

Our customer asked again for reboot.

You have answered that  Windows Vista always request for a reboot after the driver installation in order to correctly complete it, this is an expected behavior on this Operating System.

But  in customer's experiment, TUSB3410 had required reboot PC and the other USB products(USB to serial conversion cable) had not.

The customer think TUSB does require reboot, not Vista OS.  Otherwise, this is just  my opinion, Vista always require reboot, but some driver have a special function that do not require reboot.

What do you think about it ?  I would like to hear your comment.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Hiroshi.

  • Meantime there is a new release of the USB3410 driver (v6.7.2.0). But there is

no readme, release-notes or other documents on the web-page for the USB3410 device.

    http://www.ti.com/product/tusb3410

Where can I find information like:
    - Which OS are supported now?
    - Release notes`?

    Regards,

    Stefan

  • Hello Stefan,

The new driver v6.7.2 supports all the Windows versions (XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8).

This driver version fixes a disconnection issue that occurs on some specific scenarios.

    Regards,

    Roberto.
