TUSB7340 host controller:

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB7340

Hi,

One of my customers is having issues withTI TUSB7340 .The parts are failing on some boards, about 2 failures of 30 so far. The issue seems to be that on these boards, the HS lines (USB2) of the USB3 channels are failing. SS lines typically work even when the HS lines aren’t working. The controller is seen by Windows and all seems happy until I try to connect a USB2 device. The supplier replaced the host controller and remove the ESD suppression devices on the failed boards to no avail. Would TI have any recommended debugging advice? He does want  to rule out a design error especially.

He has  noticed that there are various register settings in the host controller that they might be able to use: specifically register 0xE4 (De-Emphasis and Swing control), and 0xE8 (Adaptive Equalizer). Does TI have a utility to read/write to the PCI address space for testing purposes? If this is helpful, they might be able to have their BIOS supplier provide optimized register settings in the BIOS

Thanks,

Anish Jacob
