Hi all,
I want to use the L293D H-bridge to simulate a mechanical energy converter, which generates a switching signal between -5V and 5V. But somehow the device is always getting hot. What have I done wrong?
Thanks!

Yue,
To understand the power dissipated, what are the voltages on VCC1 and VCC2?
Please describe the properties of the load: resistance, inductance.
What was the switching frequency and duty cycle?
Hi Ron, sorry for the late answer. I tried to understand some basics about H-bridge before continuing the discussion. I think my problem was that when I turned on my embedded PC, which controls H-bridge, all pins are set as outputs logic 0, which means they are all grounded. This causes some shortcuts. So now I just cut the H-bridge from my epc until the script runs correctly.
Thanks for your help, maybe I will come back to this topic again.
