A new driver and how to test TI USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller

Hello,

I own a Dell Vostro V131 running Windows 8 and, the Laptop uses Texas Instruments components (Texas Instruments USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller) and I have two questions about it...

1. What is the latest driver and is there a new driver for Windows 8 ?

2. How to test if USB 3.0 works properly if I don't have another USB 3.0 device ?

Thank you.

  • Hello Eugen,

    1. Can you send a scree shot of the Driver Version? (on Device Manager) then I can point you to the latest driver.

    2. I suppose you mean how to know if the data is being transferred over USB 3.0;       A USB 3.0 compliant device has two physically separate channels, one to interface with USB 2.0 devices and another one to interface with USB 3.0 devices, so if you never connect a USB 3.0 device then that channel will be never used.

    Regards.

  • Hello, once again

    1. Here is the screenshot:

    2. So, I have a docking station (Toshiba DynaDock U3.0), it works only with USB 3.0 port, I used it for a few months then after Windows 8 Upgrade I started to have problems with it, so stoped using it in order to waint for a good driver for Windows 8, the driver came but when I connect the cable it says that "USB device attached is not recognized" and I'm not sure where is the issue, there is a problem with USB 3.0 port or something else...that's why I need to test somehow if USB 3.0 ports are working properly,

  • Still waiting for a reply...

  • ELIAS VILLEGAS ? Will I get a reply or there is no point waiting ?

  • Hello Eugen,

From the screenshot I can see that the OS has no problem recognizing the TI Host Controller.

The driver for the host controller is provided by Microsoft, and the problem seems to be between the Microsoft's driver and the Toshiba device.

    Have you contacted Toshiba?

Have you tried different USB 3.0 devices? Do they work good, if so, there is not much we can do since the Host controller is working properly.

    Regards.
