HDMI and LCD Interface on DM8168

Hello

We have interfaced an LCD  with TI Fast link device SN65LVDS301ZQE to interface an E-ink Panel with a THC63LVDM84A receiver. The panel is PD121XL9/L4. Would this work as the reference voltages for the LVDS signals are mentioned as 0.9 for TI Fast link device and 1.2V for the THC device. The differential voltages are same.

We have connected the LVDS to the VPOut port of DM8168 (HDMI 1 port of DM8168 Ref design). Is there a standard LCD frame buffer driver available.

Thanks in advance.

Aijaz

  • Hello Aijaz, the THC63LVDM84A won't work with the LVDS301.  The LVDS301 uses 10/15/30 bits per lane per clock period, whereas the THine device is a standard LVDS RX that expects 7 bits per lane per clock period.  There is also a difference in voltages (as you pointed out), and the LVDS301 uses a parity feature.  The LVDS301 should be matched with the LVDS302 or LVDS314, and you might prefer the LVDS314 since its VDDIO can be set to 3.3V.

I can't answer your question about a DM8168 driver; please post in this forum: http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/717.aspx

    Thanks,
