XIO2001 EEPROM Access

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XIO2001

Q:  This is related to the EEPROM access for the XIO2001 PCIe-to-PCI bridge part and EVM (it is all related to the same issue):

·       We ran the WinROM EEPROM access utility on a 32-bit Windows 7 OS and it read back all FF codes (all 1’s) from the EEPROM on the EVM.  Is the EVM EEPROM blank (or does WinROM not run properly under Windows 7)?

·       Is the Beta version being distributed with the XIO2001 EVM the most recent version of WinROM (or are there newer ones somewhere on the TI site)?

·       Is there a DOS version of the EEPROM update utility?  I saw a discussion on the TI E2E web that there was a DOS version of this EEPROM utility but it didn’t seem to conclude anything was working (the attachment to the “Oct 14 2011 15:42 PM “ email didn’t match what it said in the text … looked like some setup.exe for windows)  --  http://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/digital_interface/f/130/t/133704.aspx

  • Hello Jeff,

    WinROM works well on Win7.

It is more likely that the EVM is shipped with a blank EEPROM.

Are you able to write some values to the EEPROM using the WinRom and read that values back?

If not, verify that the pull-ups on SCL and SDA are populated.

If you send me an email to elias.villegas@ti.com I can send you the latest version of WinROM

    Regards.

  • Jeff Brown submitted this for me but I'll respond.   I will send you an email requesting the most recent version of WinROM.

Yes, we are able to write to the EEPROM.  Reading the EVM docs it seemed to indicate there would be something in the EEPROM but blank seems to work out OK.  I did get your OHCIROM DOS app running as well.

So, we are good on this and you can close it out.

    Thanks -- Bob Fitch (VersaLogic,Corp).
