TS3USB221DRCR USB 2:1 Mux thermal pad connection

This part has a thermal pad - does it have to be connected even though this part will dissipate negligible power? If so, does it have to connected to 0V? i.e. does there have to be a ground pad directly under the device? I don't think this is specified on the datasheet.

What's the purpose to connect the pad to ground?
It seems not for thermal. How about floating it?

The thermal pad connected to GND increases the device's stability and helps to prevent signal noise in the internal switching block. Please follow the recommendation and connect the thermal pad to GND.
