I'm about to design the TUSB9261 into a new product. To tie everything together I'll have to route the high-speed USB 3.0 and SATA tracks from this IC through my board and with hihg-speed lines crossing each other.

As far as I can see, TI's documentation for this chip limits itself to a reference schematic. Not a bad start, but I need more info to successfully design it in. I have the demo board here.

Alternatively, can you recommend a good text on high-speed routing throuhg via holes?

Hello Borge,

The routing for differential pairs is based on a few guidelines, I suggest You start by a components distribution in a such way that all the diferential pairs will be as short as possible, as well as to use the minimal number of vias on them. For Super Speed is recomended a maximum of 3 vias per line. Remember to keep the differential pair tracks with the same lenght and always together.

Thanks Diego,

to finish this layout I have another question: Does the TUSB9216 offer polarity swap on the super-speed USB lines? I know it offers swap on the SATA liner since that is done on the dev kit.

Hello Borge,

Yes, It is possible to swap the SS data lines (obviously, You can do it only with the differential pairs )
