TMDS442 HDMI cascading

Hello,

Is it possible to cascade 16 TMSDS442 devices in series (HDMI output of the 1st device to the HDMI input of the 2nd device and so on to the 16th device)?  Since the singal is redriven on the output I would suspect so, but I wanted to confirm.

    Unfortunately this is not the case unless you have some very low resolution signals (low frequency) would a redriver be able to cascade so many.  Each of the redrivers adds random jitter to the signal that will be additive for each new redriver added.

    If you would send a block diagram of what the customer is designing, we can come up with an alternate solution.  It sounds like the HDMI bus is being routed card-to-card on a backplane, perhaps, and this type of high-speed buffering is rather common; we have high-speed transceivers that can handle HDMI buffering.
