DS32EL0421 & DS32EL0124 Lock time and K28.5

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS32EL0421, DS32EL0124

Regarding the DS32EL0421/0124, please advise me the following three questions.

Q1. How much the lock time of DS32EL0421?

Q2. How much the lock time of DS32EL0124?
The datasheet specifies the “Reset to Lock” time.
However I want to know how long does the device take to lock to the input,
after serial input is applied to the device.

Q3. How many bulk of K28.5 does DS32EL0124 need to compliance the DC balanced input?

  • Hi Mita-san,

Q1. The DS32EL0421 lock time is typ 10ms.

Q2. The DS32EL0124 lock time is only specified as reset to lock time, which does incorporate a small amount of power on time. The majority of the lock time is due to the CDR hunting through the entire frequency range of 1.25Gbps to 3.125 Gbps. Since the signal detect circuit powers down most of the analog circuitry if no signal is detected, the reset to lock time is a good estimate for the actual lock time.

Q3. The DS32EL0124 needs to have at least 110 k28.5 symbols to establish lock and perform lane alignment. The DS32EL0124 should be paired with the DS32EL0421 so that the scrambler function in both devices can be used to prevent the harmonics of the k28.5 code from causing a false lock condition.
