DP83640 MII or RMII

I intend to interface DP83640  with STM32F407 controller using RMII.
In your IEE1588 application notes the DP83640  is interfaced in MII mode.
Can I use RMII mode in IEE1588 application ?

    The DP83640 can support IEEE 1588 using RMII mode.  When utilizing the on-chip hardware support features of the DP83640 (IEEE 1588 synchronized clock generation, packet timestamps for clock synchronization, event triggering and timestamping through GPIO), performance should be comparable between MII mode and RMII mode.
