Question from a customer on the TLK100- is it possible to run the PHY “unmanaged” (i.e. not utilize the SMI interface and run in some sort of default mode?)

I have not found anything that woud indicate that this is possible. I'll ask the device engineers what they think.

Hello Patrick / Jeffery,

there is the option to preconfigure the TLK100 to link configuration using the "jumper options" (please refer to paragraph 2.7 in the data sheet).

there is no need for SMI configuration unless you desire to intervene, change configurations or use special features of the PHY.
