SERDESUB-21USB

Hi,

I am currently evaluating the SERDESUB-21USB test kit, and I am experiencing drop out of the Lock signal when operating at PCLK frequencies over 15 MHz with my current set-up (10m cable of 120Ω impedance cable (RS485) soldered connected to terminal blocks wired into P1 and J1). I am aware the cable is the in-correct impedance, and was used as this was available after being used for another application, and I am in the process of obtaining correct impedance cable.

I would like to evaluate the kit at its optimum performance (43 MHz @ 10m) using the recommended connector parts and cabling, however the specific part numbers for the connectors (P1 on Tx and J1 on Rx) and cable assembly is not provided in the datasheet. Please can you detail the exact part numbers so I can order these parts from Rosenberger for the following:-

  1. P1 connector on Tx (Rosenberger)
  2. J1 connector on Tx (Rosenberger)
  3. 10 m COTS cable assembly (With mating connectors for the above) (Leoni Dascar 538)

Thanks

Lee Smith

  • Hello Lee,

The insertion loss at >500MHz for the RS-485 cable may be the dominant factor here - but I am not familiar with the s-parameters of this particular type of cable. Here are the parts you requested:

    1. P1 (TX, Rosenberger): D4S20B-40ML5-Y
    2. J1 (RX, Rosenberger): D4S20B-40ML5-Y  <--- I assume you meant RX
    3. LD5-101-10000-Z-Z_flex

The cable listed above is the 535-2 construction - we now recommend this over the 538.
