Data link distance of Serializers & Deserializers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS92LX1622, DS92LX1621, DS15EA101, DS15BA101

Hi,

Im interested in some of the Ser/Deser, but i need a greater driving distance of about 100 meter (bidirectional). Does anyone know how to extend the range of the Ser/Deser?

In the Datasheet of, for exampel DS92LX1621, the outputvoltage of the Serializer is maximum Vddio ->3.3 Volt. The corresponding Deserializer DS92LX1622 has a receive equalization. With this combination, according to the datasheet, I will get a distance of 10 meter.

I also found a range extender ( transmitter DS15BA101 and reciever DS15EA101). Maximum outputvoltage of transmitter -> 0.8 Volt and the reciever also with a receive equalization (35 dB Boost @ 750MHz). In this case Im getting a distance of 100 meter (but unidirectional).

Is it possible to get a custom-made solution for an bidirektional 100 meter connection?

The DS15BA101 and DS15EA101 will extend your cable length to over 100m but it will not pass the back channel.   The DS92LX1621/22 implements the back channel by separation in the frequency domain.  Since the DS15BA101/EA101 are AC coupled, they also expect that there will be no information content in the forward channel below a certain frequency.   If you want to make your own custom solution, you would first need to make sure that your encoding of the forward channel is such that there is no information content at frequencies below a certain point, and then implement a back channel in which you make sure that there is no frequency content above a certain point - which is lower than the bottom end of the forward channel.
