DS100MB203 - LVCMOS Input Specification

Hi, I have a question about DS100MB203.

I think the answer is NO but is DS100MB203 LVCMOS input 3.3V tolerant ?

In the datasheet there are following description.

- LVCMOS / LVTTL DC Specifications; Vih = 2.0V(MIN), VDD(MAX)

- Absolute Maximum Ratings; LVCMOS Input/Output Voltage = -0.5V to +4.0V

VDD for this device is always 2.5V, so I am understanding that 3.3V is not accepted for the LVCMOS Input, but if you see the ABS MAX Ratings, it seems like LVCMOS input is 3.3V tolerant.

Is Vih (MAX) = VDD(=2.5V), correct ?

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • It seems that the LVCMOS input level depends on the Power Mode (3.3V or 2.5V mode).

Wouldn' t the spec of the Vih(MIN) the same as DS110DF111 like below ?

Most of the level shifter of 2.5V I/F, Voh(MIN) is around 1.7 to 1.8V which may not be able to satisfy DS100MB203 input specification if it is current 2.0V spec.

Customer is having problem how to interface with the LVCMOS 2.5V IF to DS100MB203.

Please tell us if it differs by VIN voltage or not. If it does not differ by VIN voltage, please let us know how customer can interface the 2.5V LVCMOS.

  • You are correct on both counts.

The device is NOT 3.3V compliant when the power is 2.5V

The datasheet is not very clear about this.

  • Mark-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

So, can I understand that DS100MB203 LVCMOS specification is Vih (MIN) = 1.7V at both 2.5V and 3.3V mode ?

It must be lower than 1.7V to interface 2.5V LVCMOS.

Could you please revise the datasheet ?

    This is very much confusing.
