Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVCP1414, SN65LVCP114

1. SN65LVCP1414

In the register table, there are registers named DC_GAIN_CTRL, AC_GAIN_CTRL0/1, VOD_CTRL, can you elaborate what is the function for those registers?

Is there a way to see the signal quality through reading the registers?

2. SN65LVCP114

In the register table, there are registers named GAIN1, GAIN0, can TI explain the function for those bits.

Is there a way to tune the Lanes of each port separately for this device?

Is there a way to see the signal quality through reading the registers?

  • Hi Madhuri,

    1) SN65LVCP1414

DC_GAIN_CTRL is going to provide a 6dB gain at low frequency.

AC_GAIN_CTRL provide a selectable amount of gain at higher frequencies. Figure 14 in the data sheet will give you an idea of what type of gain you can expect for various EQ settings on the SN65LVCP1414.

VOD_CTRL allows you to select the output swing of the device. The output swing can be either 600mV or 1200mV.

No, reading these registers will not give you any insight into the quality of the signal.

    2) SN65LVCP114

There are no registers named Gain1 and Gain0, those are bits that are contained in registers 0x04, 0x08, and 0x0C. These bits control the level of DC gain that available within the part. Table 5 in the data sheet gives a detailed explanation of these bits

The lanes cannot be tuned independent of each other. The tuning is done on a port by port basis.

No, reading these registers will not give you any insight into the quality of the signal
