Take a look at the documentation for the evaluation kit for a similar product, the DS110DF410 - available here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu126/snlu126.pdf
That may provide you what you are looking for.

Is the register set the same and can the same software be used? What language is the software written in? Is the source code available? What operating system does it run under? (I didn't get a chance to read the user's guide but I scanned the software section.)
Can the program be converted to MatLab which seems to be a very common tool in Gigabit serial communications.
How much is the development reference board and where is it available from?
BTW, about 7 years ago I played a role in certain early 3.125 Gbps designs with TI personnel - Bob Kaminsky and Kim Hayes. I understand that Kim has retired but I lost track of Bob. Send me your contact information so I can describe what I am doing.
