Fusion Digital Power Designer Crashing

I'm having problems using the USB Interface Adapter (#USB-TO-GPIO) with the TI Fusion Digital Power Designer 1.8.318 on Windows 7 64-bit. I'm trying to use it to connect to my Xilinx ML605 FPGA development board. There are two problems:

1) When trying to open the software it will often hang when trying to find the USB Serial interface. As a workaround, when it hangs I unplug the USB cable from my workstation causing the program to terminate with an error, plug it back in and restart the program. This seems to fix it.

2) When I do bring up the software I can click on the "Monitor" tab to monitor the power signals. However, after 3-10 seconds of this the program will always freeze. The signal graphs stop updating and I cannot click on any buttons, tabs, or menus. I end up closing the program through task manager.

I have repeated these steps about 10-15 times and every time I see the same things happening. Please help me figure out what the problem could be.
