HDMI to LVDS bridge using Windows 7

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75LVDS83, TFP401A, TFP401

Hello,

We are using the TFP401A and SN75LVDS83 to make an HDMI to LVDS bridge from a Windows 7 computer to our small LCD display.  Currently, Windows doesn't detect that an HDMI device at all.  I've attached our schematic.   One question we have is what to do with the HPD pin on the HDMI connector?  Also, do you know if Windows would properly detect this as a DVI 1.0 device and operate at the DVI 1.0 level?

Thanks for any insight you can provide on this interface!

  • Hello,

We will review the schematic and provide feedback.

    Regards.

  • Hello,

Please see below comments regarding your schematic:

You are selecting clock falling edge trigger on the TFP401 and rising edge on the LVDS83, these two must match. Connect CLKSEL of the LVDS83 to ground.
PIXS is connected high selecting 2pixels/clock but you are using only the QE[] bus, connect PIXS to ground.
    Connect STAG# high for 1pixel/clock.

Connect HPD high to test if it is detected.

The TFP401 does not support audio data on the TMDS stream, do you know if your TMDS stream contains audio data?

Can you send scope captures of the CLKOUT, DE, HSYNC, VSYNC.

    Regards.
