DS90UB925Q and DS90UB926Q

Hallo,

1.) I would like to ask if this serdes components can be used for a 20bit BT.1120 HD video transmission ? We have 1080p with 30 frames. (1,485GBit/s) and a cable length of 2m to 5m.

2.) I have seen that this components have only a STP interface; is it possible, to do the connection with only one single coax conecction and the other out/in-put terminated ? (-6dB in signal)

3.) Is it a problem if the sync signals are embedded in the "video-datas" ?

many thanks for your infos and kind regards

    1)   Yes, you could use the DS90UB925/926 for BT1120 data (1080P30).   Tie the unused input bits high or low to keep from having extra noise added to the signal.

    2)  The device is optimized, tested and guaranteed with STP.   We have had some issues with connecting the Serializer and Deserializer with COAX and simply terminating the other side, and so this is not recommended.   It may be possible with a Balun at either end, although this would be liable to disrupt the backchannel.

    3) No problem to embed the sync signals (BT1120 already includes provision for sync within the EAV words).

  • Hi Mark,

    I have a question regarding DS90UB925/926:

    In the BT.1120 standard I have a H, V and a F/DE sync signal.

Is it possible to use the  DE pin of the DS90UB925/926 for the F/DE sync signal,  that indicates the even/odd frame, in an interlaced system or should I use a unused pin of the serializer/deserializer. (I only need 20 pins for the 4:2:2, Y,Cb, Cr signal.  The same could be done for H und V sync signals.)

The reasion I am asking, is because, I have found the same description of the DE pin in the datasheets. The only difference is the I/O type !?

For me the DE pin is used  at the  DS90UB925 to switch on and off the control signal filter; what is the function of the DE output at the  DS90UB926 ?

    Data Enable Output Pin

w/ pull down Video control signal pulse width must be 3 PCLKs or longer to be transmitted when the

Control Signal Filter is enabled. There is no restriction on the minimum transition pulse

when the Control Signal Filter is disabled. The signal is limited to 2 transitions per 130

    PCLKs.
