Voiding the power and ground planes beneath the magnetics is recommended as a way to reduce inductive or magnetic coupling of noise onto the magnetics and out onto the cable.  Your design may have higher radiated emissions than it would if the power and ground planes beneath the magnetics were voided.  However, it should still be functional.
