DS90UB925EVB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP, DS90UH928QEVM

Hallo,

I have problems to find the USB driver for the above mentioned eval-board.  I tried to find them in the drivers folder of the national semiconductor corp. directory, without success. The driver for the DS90UB926EVB where found without problems.....maybe you can give me a hint.

kind regards

Rudi

  • Hi Rudi,

The drivers are typically found in the following directory: C:\Program Files\National Semiconductor Corp\Analog LaunchPAD v1.29.0010\Drivers

See the ALP installation guide in the DS90UH928QEVM evaluation board User's Guide: http://www.ti.com/tool/ds90uh928qevm

Are you using Windows 7? If so, Windows XP emulation mode is required, as described in attached document.1754.ALP_on_Windows7.pdf

  • Hi Ryan,

    many thanks for your infos.

I use Windows XP. The installation procedure of the DS90UH928QEVM is in principle the same as for the DS90UB925/926EVB, and I follwed.

Maybe you can mention a link where I can download the required driver.

    best regards

    Rudi

  • Hi Rudi,

The driver files for the ALP hardware should be in the directory C:\Program Files\National Semiconductor Corp\Analog LaunchPAD v1.29.0010\Drivers if you used the default installation directory.

If that doesn't work, consider downloading the latest ALP installation package from ti.com at: http://www.ti.com/tool/alp

  • Hi Ryan,

i tried to remove the ALP-SW and the USB-driver from the pc, download and proceed as described, without success.

The next was, to install the ALP SW on an other laptop, the result was the same. I can install the driver for the DS90UB926EVB, but not for the DS90UB925EVB.

What I have seen, if I install the DS90UB926EVB USB driver, the pc detects as a new USB device a NSC-USB-NANO....and starts installation from the desired path. in case of the DS90UB925EVB a AT90USB128DFU is detected and no driver is found....(can not install hardware)

Would it be possible for you to send me the USB driver ? Or could it be that the board is damaged or not flashed ?

    Pls inform me.

    best regards

    Rudi

  • Hi Rudi,

It sounds like your DS90UB925 board is not flashed. Can you send me an email at ryan (dot) bailey (at) ti (dot) com ?

I can send you the hex file and instructions for re-flashing the controller. No programmers or anything special required - just the USB interface you're already using.

  • Ryan,

I have the exact same problem with a board I just received.  Could you point me to instructions for re-flashing the Atmel uC.

    Thanks,

    Rob James

  • To reprogram the Atmel uC on DS90Ux925 EVM, do the following:

    1) Power up board

    2) Place the controller into DFU mode: Press and hold SW1 -> Short JP3 and hold SW1 -> Wait 5 seconds -> Release SW2 -> Release (open) JP3

    3) Connect USB cable to at J3

    4) Launch Atmel FLIP software – downloadable at http://www.atmel.com/tools/FLIP.aspx

    5) From menu bar: Device -> Select

    6) Select AT90USB1287. Click OK.

    7) From menu bar: File -> Load Hex File

    8) Navigate to spa_eom.hex (typically located at “C:\Program Files\National Semiconductor Corp\Analog LaunchPAD\vx.x.x\Drivers”) and click Open

    9) From menu bar: Settings -> Communication->USB. Click ‘Open’.

    10) From “Operations Flow” pane, select all checkboxes

    11) On “Operations Flow” pane, click Run

  • Hi Ryan, seems like you know how to get these DS90UB925EVBs up and running.  I'm using the USP-mini port now after a long frustration session with the I2C port, and a Aardvark I2C host adapter.  The i2C method didn't work, so now I loaded the Atmel nano usb drivers, and windows 7 seemed to be happy, but when I ran Analog Launch Pad, it crashed and said: MainGUE.exe stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you of a solution is available.  close program"

I'm trying to talk to the board via ALP so I can change some register settings and put the I2C in by pass mode etc.

I loaded ALP twice now and it's still not working.  Got any ideas?

    Regards,

    Greg

  • Hi Greg,

Are there any entries in MainGUI.exe.log or MainGUI.log log files? Run ALP as administrator.
