sn75dp139 Do I need a seperate 3.3 to 5V regulator

Hi I am going to use sn75dp139 chip in DP to HDMI design. I have seen the ref schematic on this forum. I could not find 5v out from chip. Do I need seperate 3.3 to 5V regulator for HDMI 5V supply ?

Hello Pixeldna,

I highly suggest You to use a 5v source and then regulate it to 3.3V.

Hi Diego,

Are you seggesting, it needs 5v source instead of using 3.3V out of displayport connector?

In that case my dongle will require external 5v source. Please confirm.

Hellp Pixeldna,

I highly suggest You to use a external 5V source. However if You are planning the opposite, I suggest You to review the section 3.2 on the Display Port specification (DP_PWR for Box-to-Box DisplayPort Connection).
