TI Team,

I'm looking for an ESD device that meets a more stringent requirement of the GR1089 standard. The diagrams below are pulled from the standard for 4.6.2.1.3. as well as the test levels in Table 4-2, Surge test number 13 for Intra-Building Ports up to 4 pairs (Gigabit Ethernet). Notice that the test level was 1500V/750A, 1.2/50uS Voltage, 8/20uS Current Combination Waveform as displayed below. This is part of the NEBS body and more information can be obtained from the link shown here:

Does the TPD4S009 family, or for that matter, any of your ESD/TVS devices address the standard? The datasheet has no information related to this. Again, the standard is relatively new as it came out around August of last year.

I don't think we have devices that meet this standard, but I did find and App. Note (attached) that references various Bourns devices that meet GR-1089.

The 1.2 us/50 us (Open circuit Voltage) and 8/20 us (short circuit current) refers to the standard IEC 61000-4-5. This is a standard parameter in most of ESD datasheets. You can search for 8/20 in any datasheet and find the voltage until which they survive. The 1500V/750A is pretty stringent. We do have such solutions in our roadmap.

Thank you Vivek. I look forward to learning about the solutions your team is developing to address this type of application. For now, I will use a Bourns solution.
