Hi Team,

The Evaluation Board of DS110DF410 have 0.22uF for AC coupling cap.

Could you please tell us the backgrond why this value was chosen ?

Customer will use 0.1uF for AC coupling cap.

I think the difference is the cut off frequency and 0.1uF is OK, but Is it better to use 0.22uF ?

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Our customer needs to fix their design soon.

Could you please help us on these questions ?

    -----

    1) Why did TI choose 0.22uF for AC coupling capacitor ?

    2) Is there any side effect to change this 0.22uF to 0.1uF ?

  • The decoupling cap sets the lower limit of the frequencies passed by the board.   On the evaluation board we want to be able to accomodate the broadest possible number of applications, so a larger AC coupling cap is used.   If your customer knows that with their data coding scheme, and data rates, they do not need to be concerned with passing low frequency content, then a smaller AC coupling cap will work fine.

  • Mark-san,

    Thank you for the answer.
