TCA9517 input signal detection methodology

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517

Hi, all

According to TCA9517 data sheet, the input transition from High to Low is the edge sense detection. However there is no explanation about the High input detection methodology.

How does TCA9517 detect the input transition from Low to High of both A-side and B-side?

Also, in case of B-side, when VIH(B-side)  is less than VILC, threre is a wave form as below. It seems TCA9517 performs the level sense detection at VILC. My uderstanding is correct??

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Toshi,

The VIH for the TCA9517 on the B side is VILC, your understanding is correct. This design allows for shorter prop delays and faster bus speeds while incorporating the static offset feature to eliminate a bus lock up.

For the A-side, the VIH is 0.3 * VCCA.
