DP83460 Transmit Packet Timestamp

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83640

Hello sir,

Even we are using the DP83640. We able to time stamp the EVENTs but not the packet time stamping. I am not using PSFs. I am trying to read the PTP status register after sending an PTP version 2 sync message. But not TX_TS(Transmit timestamp ) bit is setting. Could you please tell me the sequence that you are following to configure the registers for packet time stamping. If you have an "wireshark" snap shot of your sent sync or delay_req message, please provide that one also.

Thankyou,

Sushma

  • Sushma,

I have split your post off into its own thread so that it can get the necessary visibility.  I believe that the issue which you are facing is slightly different than that in the previous thread.  For reference purposes, the link to that original thread is:

    http://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/ethernet/f/903/p/272564/957816.aspx

I do not have detailed information on the full configuration used for that application.  Nor do I have information on the PTP messages being sent in that application.  I would suggest that we start fresh and determine how to get your implementation working.

Would you be able to provide a dump of the register configuration you are using and a Wireshark file with the PTP messages being sent?
