5962R9583301VFA Part Marking Issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90C031

A military customer is using the 5962R9583301VFA and they have discovered a part marking issue. The datasheet and the material system indicate the part marking as:

DS90C031WR

QMLV Q

5962R95833

01VFA ACO

01VFA>T

But the received parts are marked:

DS90C031WR

QV Q 5962R

9583301VFA

While the missing ML shouldn't matter, the fact that all the documentation on the web indicates that is should be there is causing an issue.

Was a PCN generated with this? I can't find any source for the change,

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Joseph,

For the device you have a picture, I am not finding a valid part marking reference for this device.  The part marking as you described and as shown in the datasheet does come up with a valid part reference, but the pictured one does not.

Please provide sourcing information (packing list, p.o., etc) for the parts that were received with this indicated marking.  Packaging label (reel or tube) would also be helpful.  Did the customer buy these direct, or were they procured through a CM?  I'll forward you a direct email link to reply to, so this info is not displayed here.

  • Hi Joseph,

The Part Marking addendum in the TI datasheet on the webpage shows the part marking for devices produced after the TI acquisition and transition period.  These devices will have the TI logo as well.  The one in the picture you provided is a National Semi logo, so it was produced under National part marking guidlelines.  I am searching for a corresponding document that describes how National devices were marked and I'll post it as soon as we can obtain it.  But as far as a concern for valid part marking, I don't think there is a problem - we're seeing pre- and post- TI conversion here.

  • I am with the product line that produced this part - we are researching the issue.

The part number is DS90C031 - but I am not familiar with the particular package/screening variant here, so we are digging.....

  • Here is the explanation that I have received:

    Prior to NSC becoming TI the marking on the part was as follows;

    $N"Z"S"4"A
    DS90C031WGR
    QV Q 5962R
    9583301VZA

After integration of NSC into TI systems and methods the marking is now as follows:

     Topside Symbol         : NS-NAD16-MIL-DOT
         +---------------------------+      \NS/ = NATIONAL LOGO
         ! \NS/ YYWWLZ YQ      !       ACO = ISO 3
         ! DS90C031WR           !        CHAR COUNTRY CODE
         ! QMLV Q                       !        YQ = DIFF DATE
         ! 5962R95833              !      YYWW = SEAL DATE
         ! 01VFA ACO                 !         L = LOT WINDOW
         ! O                         !         Z = B/I SPLIT LOT
         +---------------------------+
          O - PIN 1(MARKED DOT)

A PCN was issued to texplain this change.

The conversion was implement approxamately Mid Oct 2012.

The product  in the photo  is an early  2010 vintage product.
