DS110DF410 - Mute Condition

Hi, Please tell me about the DS110DF410 mute condition.

I understand that mute means "no differential voltage" at the output. When you monitor the output level before the AC coupling cap, following voltage was measured on each TXPn/TXNn pins.

  1) Around 1.8V : No signal input, output mute by default

  2) Around 1.2V : Valid signal at input, output mute by programming ADR 0x09[5]=1 (Enable override output MUX), MUX register setting is mute by default.

Here is my questions.

  Q1) Is this the normal operation(behavior) for DS110DF410 ?

Q2) Why does the output have some voltage at mute ?

Q3) Why does the output voltage level differ at with or without input signal ?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Hi Kawai-San,

Q1). Yes this is normal operation.

Q2 and Q3: There are multiple cases:

    a. When the device powers down the output then both P and N of the output would go to about 1.8V. In your case, the signal detect was not asserted so the device has powered down.

    b. If there is signal but the device cannot lock, then in default mode the device mutes the output. In this case, P and N of the output would follow VOD settings like when the device is locked(i.e 1.2V)
