Please tell us about the DS110DF410 SMBus communication.

Does DS110DF410 support SMBus Read/Write Protocol with PEC ?

    Kawai-San,

    It is my understanding that SMBUS with PEC(Packet Error Code) a byte is appended at the end of the each data transmission. This byte is a checksum over the entire message. DS110DF410 does not support PEC when in SMBUS mode. In our implementation, maximum SMBUS clock is 400KHz and we have not seen a case where PEC was needed. In SMBUS there is ACK and NACK where the receiving end can notify the transmitter if the transmission went through with no problem. DS125DF410 SMBUS uses ACK/NACK signalling.

    I understood that DS110DF410 (retimer family) does not support Packet Error Checking.
