TLK2711-SP supply voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK2711-SP

Hi,

I want to use for a new design a TLK2711-SP (SMD 5962-0522101VXC)  with a serial speed of 2 Gbps.

I would like  to know what is the best nominal value for the supply voltage VDD for a speed of 2 Gbps because it 's not clear in the datasheet.

In the TLK271-SP  datasheet :

VDD supply voltage  frequency range 1.6 Gbps to 2  Gbps : 2.5 V NOM

VDD supply voltage  frequency range 1.6 Gbps to 2.5  Gbps : 2.6 V NOM

In the 5962-0522101VXC  datasheet :

VDD supply voltage  frequency range 1.6 Gbps to 2  Gbps : 2.375 V dc to 2.7 V dc

VDD supply voltage  frequency range 2 Gbps to 2.5  Gbps : 2.5 V dc to 2.7 V dc

Regards

  • Hi Pascal,

I am not sure why VDD is specified this way in the data sheet and I will have to check with the design team for a more conclusive answer to your question. I will follow up with you after I have this conversation with the design team.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • Pascal, Michael,

The -SP device belongs to the High Reliability group.

The voltage specification is set this way to allow relaxed specification on VDD if you did not require it for performance at max rated speed.

I believe that you quoted the values incorrectly from the datasheet.

    Frequency range 1.6 Gbps to 2 Gbps    2.375 2.5 2.625

    Frequency range 1.6 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps  2.5 2.6 2.7

Since there is overlap operating at 2GSPS this allows you to use min and max of both ranges.  So you can run from 2.375 to 2.7v and still be in compliance.  The DSCC drawing actually made this conclusion for you.

    Regards,
