DS110DF410 - Register Setting for SRIO 5Gbps

Hi,

Could you please tell us how to use DS110DF410 in SRIO(Serial Rapid I/O) 5Gbps ?

Can you program base on "Standards-Based Mode" or do you program based on "Frequency Range Based Mode" ?

As there is no register setting table for Frequency Range Based Mode, we do not know how we can use in SRIO 5Gbps.

We appreciate if we could have the answer as soon as possible.

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Kawai-San,

DS110DF410 Retimer locks to the data range 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps. Additionally it locks to sub-rates of the data rates within this range. That is if there is a lower data rate that you can multiply by 2.4. or 8 and the result is within this range(i.e 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps) then the device is able to lock using standard-based mode. Please note you may need to adjust ppm counters to enable the device with the required ppm range.

  • Nasser-san,

Thank you for the answer. Could you please give us your advice to our additional questions ?

    Questoin1)
Do you mean that you should use the setting of Infiniband in the "Standards-Based Mode", for SRIO 5Gbps ?
How is the lock time compared to "Frequency Range Based Mode" ?

    Quetstion2)
Can you use DS110DF410 in Frequency Range Based Mode ?

Our customer is using "Frequency Range Based Mode". It is difficult to change the program as they do not have enough time.

    Question3)
If Frequency Range Based Mode is applicable, please provide us the register setting table for each frequency range.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai

  • Kawai-San,

Yes you are correct. Please use Infiniband settings. Frequency range based is used for the data rates that are not in the standard-based modes. The standard based mode enables automatic switching to the subrate data rates. The lock time is the same between standard based vs frequency range as long as they use the same divisor ratio.

  • hi naser mohammadi

can i get you email to send qustion for you ?

    very tanks

  • Nasser-san,

Our customer has been designing the program based on Frequency Range Based Mode.

At this timing, it is pretty difficult to change the program unless there is a problem using in Frequency Range Based Mode.

    Our question are the followings.

    1) Can DS110DF410 be used in Frequency Range Based Mode ?

=> This must be YES, because if NO, then there is no way to lock to the frequency range other than Standard Based Mode.

    2) Please tell us how to lock to 5Gbps in Frequency Range Based Mode using DS110DF410.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai

  • Kawai-San,

Here are the register settings for 5G Frequency Range based mode. I checked these settings with one of our evaluation board and we were able to lock at 5G. Please use these register settings:

    (0x60)= 0x00, (0x61)=0xb2, (0x62)=0x00, (0x63)=0xb2, (0x64)=0xcc, 0x2f[7:4])= 4b1010

After issuing these please reset the device(i.e (0x0a)=0x1c, (0x0a)=0x10).

    Regards,,nasser
