TLK2711-SP TRACK matching

hi,

My customer would like to match both output DIFF signal and he is wondering about the matching:

Could you also ask your engineers whether there are special requirements regarding skew between the TXPand TXN signal? Or is a matching of +-1mm sufficient?

Regards

  • Kamal,

I am not aware of any specific requirements.  However, the better the matching then you will have improved eye and thus a more robust link.

I would expect that most layout tools can keep these high speed traces to within several mils.  If you have 1mm difference in stripline FR 4, this is approximately 7ps of mismatch that is introduced.   May not be a concern if your link has plenty of margin.

Additionally, it is important to have impedance matching.  Some prefer loose coupling of traces with each being 50ohm to gnd.  Other prefer tightly coupled with 100ohm differential.   The 50ohm to gnd for each trace loosely coupled is more layout friendly.

    Regards,
