Will driving a powered off RS-232 receiver cause damage?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MAX3243E

Hello,

We're using a MAX3243E RS-232 driver. There is a use case where this receiver may be driven by an RS-232 signal while it is powered off. Is there any chance of damage to this device under these conditions? Why or Why not? Thank you.

Best regards,

Paul
