PCA9517 quiescent supply currents not specified

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCA9517

I have a few questions about quiescent supply currents of this device that are not specified in the datasheet.

1. The drivers of the device are enabled when V_CCA is above 0.8 V and V_CCB is above 2.5V. What are the maximum currents drawn from V_CCA and V_CCB if only one of them is high enough, i.e.:

1a. When V_CCA is above 0.8V but V_CCB is below 2.5V

1b. When V_CCB is above 2.5V bot V_CCA is below 0.8V

2. What are the maximum currents drawn from V_CCA and V_CCB when EN=0?

  • Hi Johan,

The quiescent supply current will not change based on the lockout condition or the state of EN

The PCA9517 does not enter any power saving mode when EN is low or when the device is in an undervoltage lockout state, it simply forces the SDAx/SCLx outputs to be high-impedance.

1a. The quiescent supply current will be defined by ICC(Vcca) which is 1mA max

1b. With VCCA below 0.8V, the bus is locked out and you will see ICC equal to the bus idle condition (SDAA = SCLA = VCCA & SCLB = SDAB = VCCB) which is 4mA max)

    2. As explained above, when EN=0 the ICC will be dependent upon how SDAx/SCLx are being externally driven
