DS90LV804 - On-Chip 100Ohm Output Termination

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90LV804

Hello,

My customer have some questions about DS90LV804.

[Q1]

Why does DS90LV804 have On-Chip 100Ohm Output Termination?

[Q2]

Should the External 100Ohm termination connect the output of DS90LV804?

Is there anything which they must consider?

I think the terminations of source and load improve  signal integrity.

But the source current increases to double.

  • You are right; the integrated 100Ω termination in the DS90LV804 output is primarily there to improve the signal integrity.  It reduces the effects of near end crosstalk.  This resistor does not take the place of the 100Ω termination at the input of the receiving device.

The Output Interfacing section of the DS90LV804 datasheet shows the proper output configuration.  The output traces should have 100Ω differential impedance, and there should be a 100Ω termination at the input of the receiving device.

  • Hello Gary,

Thank you for your fast response.

    I became clear.
