Hello.

Im designing a DV video recorder.

Is tsb41ab1 (alone) good enough to connect the FPGA with DV Camcorder via FireWire? Or I need something else?

Of course anything else tips will be welcome! ;-)

Hello MZ,

The tsb41ab1 is the PHY interface of a 1394 controller. It can also work as a 1394 repeater. I don't understand well your application but if your FPGA is going to be the LLC and you want to send the data of your camcorder from your FPGA to a firewire cable, then the answer is yes, the TI device will do this job.

Inversely. I need to read DV Stream from firewire cable (from camcorder) and put it to the FPGA / uC.

That can be also accomplished with the tsb41ab1.
